hypothetically speaking, if a gunner came up to you, and no one else was around or knew you were in trouble, what would you do in the following situations. (For Christians only)
1. a gunner says he is an atheist, and tells you that he is out killing all none-atheists. He then asks you whether you believe in god.
Would you say yes or not, these are your only options.
2. The same situation as above, except your son/daughter (if you don’t have one, replace with another close loved one) but this time, he puts the gun to your loved ones head (who can’t speak, mouth’s duct taped) and asks you whether you believe in god.
what do you answer?

No, I would die first before my children.
That one story about that girl [at Columbine] who said she believed in god or whatever, was apparently made up.
And, no, I wouldn’t. I’m an atheist, but even if I were religious, I would put no one before my loved one. If I had a religion, I would choose one with an understand deity, who would rather me deny and live than deny in their name.
I’d say anything, but it is impossible to believe something that you don’t believe…. barring torture and a fractured mind. I hope that causing clinical insanity thru torture is not what you have in mind as the road to salvation.
Deny Christ. I’m sure he’ll know you don’t mean it. Something like that has to come from the heart, you know?
I would die as believer in the oneness of God,
I am a Muslim
Yes.
Mat 10:37 The one loving father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And the one loving son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Mat 10:38 And who does not take up his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
Mat 10:39 The one finding his life shall lose it. And the one losing his life on account of Me shall find it.
Mat 10:32 Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in Heaven.
Mat 10:33 But whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father in Heaven.
The threat of violence, especially immediate violence has been shown to make people do or say anything – this also applies to torture. Most atheist know this and would not resort to violence to get someone to change their beliefs – not that most of us want people to change their beliefs, we just don’t want those beliefs in school or government.
By the way, as an atheist I volunteered and served to protect your right to freedom of religion.
I will answer your question as you have asked it.
1. I would say I believe in God.
2. I would say I believe in God.
On # 2, This happens all the time in percecuted nations.
What kind of faith would I be showing my kids if I were to reject my God, all that the word of God and my witness would be out the door in their eyes. I would rather us all be dead in this world and alive with Him forever in the next.
Good question.
Why is it relevant that he is an atheist? Why not just put crazy dude?
Can’t imagine any atheist caring enough about what a Christian believes to want to pull a gun on him/her.
The whole question is flawed. Atheists don’t behave this way. You’re thinking of religious fanatics like during the inquisition.
in the first one i’d say i believe in God, in the second one that i don’t. God knows i love him.
Let us hope this is never a situation that comes about. I know the dear girl that was killed in the Columbine shooting refused to deny Jesus.
I hope I would have the courage to not deny Christ in either situation. The first one I know I could. What is my life, being absent here on earth is to be with Jesus.
The second one, gee, I would pray that like when the angel of God came to Abraham and told him not to kill Isaac, an angel would appear to save my children.
I really do not have an answer for that. My children are Christian,so they would be with Jesus.
I may not sleep tonight thinking on this one, because in the end times, this will be done.
an atheist would never understand this but I will pray that God give me the strength to not deny Him ever, I pray for that strength because I would not have the strength to do it on my own, but I would never ever want to deny my God.
Im atheist, but since G-d “knows everything” wouldnt he know you were only saying something blasphemous to save someone you really loved? If “He” is so great and powerful and merciful, wouldnt he forgive you?
This is why the Catholic Bible contains the books of the Maccabbees—-it speaks of just this where a woman encourages her children to die rather than denounce their faith. She trusts in God rather than in men. God has the power to raise them back up in a form that can never be destroyed.
i’d say yes in either case….that doesn’t mean i wouldn’t pound
the fellow before i do…
these lose lose questions are just hilariously stupid…..
If your only asking Christians, what do you think everyone will answer?
I would not deny Christ. Yes, I would let my children die, as they are in Christ as well. I would die first though, as I would fight him/her, but there would be no denying Christ.
former force recon marine, I would rip his head off. Then I would get my loved ones far away,
Then I would beg GOD for forgiveness.
No I would sacrifice my soul to protect my children
You are asking the same question.
The answer is always the same.
Instead of answering his question I’d just tell him it was none of his d*mn business and never give him a response.
i would say take me instead is they put the gun to my head i would tell them to run and when they were long gone i would say yes
I would gladly die for my God..I would lie like hell to save my kids…even if it meant going to Hell for them.
I would be very afraid to let you know where I lived
