Bucket List Hub – Top Things To Do Before You Die

Another Baby Question?

Ok, I asked about the pain of labor before, but this time I have a different scare–ever since I was little, and I have NO idea why, I always was scared to have a baby because I’ve seen Lifetime movies and other movies when the mother would die either before, after, or during giving birth. How often does this happen? I can’t seem to find anything online.

  1. That never happens anymore. Too high of technology in hospitals now a days. The movies you are watching are very old im assuming. People dont die from giving birth anymore. Dont be so worried and enjoy your pregnancy! <3 Congratulations!

  2. Are you pregnant? If so, don’t you think its unhealthy to the fetus to be worrying about such? Too much worry causes stress which harms the baby. Relax! This isn’t the wild wild west, with modern medicine, death is unlikely. Besides death is something that is just out of your hands. If its your time to go its your time to do.

  3. I was afraid of that too, when my family and I would have discussions, that subject always came up. I don’t think it happends very often because now they have ways of getting the baby out quicker and stuff like that, I don’t think you should worry too much.

  4. Well the doctor will let you know if you are going to have complications before the baby is further along. My sister in law was told after she had her 5th child that the next time she is pregnant it’s either her or the baby that lives, so she tied her tubes.

  5. maternal death is extremely rare, and those are movies. the docs and nurses are monitoring you and the baby very closely and it is a controlled enviorment, if something is wrong with you or the baby (which is rare) they have the means to treat it at the hospital. Put these thoughts out of your head and if you can’t seek some counsling it may help alleviate some of these fears and there is nothing wrong with counsling.

  6. ask a dr don’t take r words 4 it

  10. I was scared too. My doctor told me that as long as I stayed healthy during my pregnancy and had no abnormalities then I should be fine. When the time comes to have the baby you will be ready. That’s how I could tell that I was ready to have my baby-I wasn’t scared anymore. I felt ready and calm about the whole experience. The only thing that I worried about until the very end of both pregnancies was the epidural and if you listen to your anesthesiologist you should be fine. Congratulations!

  11. The current rate of stillbirth(death after weeks gestation) is around 7-10 out of 1000 babies born.
Neonatal death (death within the first days of life) rate is 2/3 of all children born in the USA.
There are different factors that attribute to both. If you are concerned, talk to your doctor and get all the information to find out if you are at risk.

  12. lol..our avatar’s are practically the same! You are stressing over too many things! That in itself isn’t good for the little one growing in your belly :) You will be fine. Have you ever heard of anyone dying while giving birth in real life? Sure it has happened, but not to anyone I have ever known personally. Good luck to you!

  17. The reason you can’t find anything online is because it is so rare. Usually if it does happen, it is because of serious underlying health problems that were not well maintained. Don’t worry. You have a doctor for a reason, and he/she will do their job. I know it can be a bit scary, but you will be fine. If you are still scared after talking to a doctor, try to find a mom’s group near you that you can talk to. Other moms will help ease your fears, and give you some good friends too.
